SBO Apprenticeship-Based Vocational Education (Werkend-Leren)
The hospitality sector in Curaçao is growing rapidly, but there is a significant shortage in the local workforce for this industry. Unfortunately, local schools rarely offer or promote relevant programs, and there is a high dropout rate among SBO students on the island. To address this, VPCO has launched a new vocational college, Vivente SBO. In collaboration with Impacto B.V., Vivente SBO offers new apprenticeship-based programs specifically for Cook/Chef (SBO levels 2 & 3) and Hostess (level 3). Impacto manages all work-related aspects, including screening, matching, employment, and job coaching. In these programs, students work a minimum of four days a week and attend school once a week. This hands-on approach allows them to learn on the job (instead of relying solely on textbooks), earn a salary from the start, provide valuable assistance on the work floor, and gain experience from day one.
Upon completion, students will receive internationally recognized SBO diplomas and will be well-prepared to advance their careers. There is strong demand for skilled professionals in this sector, offering significant opportunities for growth.
